About the Artist
Hi, I'm Marlies, an illustrator from the Netherlands, working across children's illustration, character design and lifestyle illustration for adults .
My Inspiration
I've always been drawn to nostalgia, playful characters, and retro color palettes, sparks of inspiration I turn into illustrations that feel both familiar and fresh.
Illustration for Every Audience
Some of my work is made with children in mind; bold, whimsical, and full of character. Other pieces are aimed at adults: vintage-inspired illustration for food, lifestyle, and everyday scenes, with the same warmth and attention to detail, just a different audience in mind.
My Process
Every illustration starts with an idea, a character that pops into my head, a scene I imagine, or something I notice on a walk. I experiment with brushes and colour, then refine everything into a finished piece, whether that's a bold character design, vintage-inspired line work, or or a food or lifestyle illustration.
